About Tailed Demon Slayer

Tailed Demon Slayer is an idle action RPG developed by NSTAGE and published by CookApps, a South Korean studio known for Shadow Knights and AFK Dungeon. Originally released on mobile in October 2021 and brought to browsers as an HTML5 (Unity WebGL) title in April 2025, the game has earned a 9.2/10 rating from over 2,000 votes on CrazyGames and a 4.4 on Google Play. You play as a fox warrior battling waves of demons across hundreds of stages, with a boss fight every 10 waves. The game blends real-time hack-and-slash combat with deep idle mechanics — your hero fights and earns resources even when you are offline. With four weapon types, a fairy companion system, guardian summons, costume upgrades, rogue-like dungeons, and a meditation minigame, this browser game delivers enormous depth wrapped in charming 2D anime-style visuals.

Stage Progression and Boss Fights

The game is divided into numbered stages. Each stage sends waves of demon enemies at your hero. After every 10 waves, you face a boss. Defeating the boss advances you to the next level. If you fail to beat the boss within its time limit, you stay on the current level and continue fighting regular demons to earn resources for upgrades. You can manually summon the boss again when you feel ready.

Auto Mode

You unlock Auto Mode at stage 5. When enabled, your hero automatically uses skills and fights without your input. Auto mode uses your skills faster than manual play, making it more efficient for farming resources. Use manual control when you want to save a powerful ability for a specific boss encounter.

Weapons

Your hero can wield four weapon types simultaneously, divided by range:

  • Short Range — Rapier (lunging attacks) and Hammer (heavy strikes).
  • Mid Range — Gatling Gun (rapid fire) and Spear (sweeping attacks).
  • Long Range — Crossbow (arrow barrages) and War Fan (area magic).

You equip three weapons at a time in the original game, or up to four depending on progression. Each weapon has its own skill set and mastery tree. Using a weapon increases its proficiency, making it permanently stronger. Focus your upgrades on your preferred weapon loadout rather than spreading resources across all six.

Stats and Upgrades

Your hero's core stats include:

  • Attack — Overall damage output.
  • HP — Maximum health.
  • HP Recovery — Health regeneration speed during combat.
  • Crit Chance and Crit Damage — Unlockable stats that increase burst damage potential.

Upgrade stats using gold earned from slaying demons. The Quest Prompt on the side of the screen guides you on which stats to upgrade next, keeping your progression efficient.

Equipment and Summoning

New gear is obtained through a summoning system — spend gems to open treasure chests containing weapons, armor, and accessories of varying rarity grades. Duplicate items can be merged to increase gear quality. Tap the Auto Level Up button after each summoning session to instantly merge all available duplicates. The more you summon, the higher the tier of gear the system offers.

Fairies

Fairies are companion spirits that fight alongside your hero and provide passive stat bonuses. You unlock fairies at stage 152 through a purification process that runs in the background. Equip your highest-grade fairies for maximum benefit — Sinbad is widely considered the best early fairy due to its massive attack boost, even at low grades. Every fairy you own provides a passive "Effect in Possession" stat bonus, so collecting more fairies strengthens your hero even when they are not actively equipped.

Guardians

Guardians are powerful summon creatures activated by filling a gauge through combat:

  • Jujak — A fire owl that deals massive area damage and damage over time.
  • Hyoryu — A frost dragon that slows enemy movement speed, ideal for ranged weapon loadouts.
  • Kilin — A thunder beast that reduces enemy attack speed and gives your hero more time to heal.

Turn off Auto Guardian so you can manually save your guardian for boss fights where the burst damage matters most. Wasting a guardian call on regular waves leaves you without it when you need it.

Dungeons

Daily dungeons provide essential resources:

  • Donmani's Gem Cart — Protect a gem cart from demons to earn gemstones.
  • Sloth King's Gold Temple — Fight hoarding sloths to collect large amounts of gold.
  • Great Library — A survival endurance test where your goal is simply to stay alive as long as possible.

Complete dungeons daily — they contribute to quest rewards and provide resources you cannot efficiently farm from regular stages.

Costumes

Costumes provide major stat boosts and high-rarity costumes grant active magic skills tied to their element (e.g., an ice costume calls down hailstorms). Upgrade costumes using Elemental Stones earned from the Elemental Caves, where you fight massive crystals while wearing element-matched costumes. Costumes can also be star-leveled through duplicate summons.

Meditation Minigame

A puzzle minigame where you connect colored stones by dragging across adjacent matches. Successful meditation earns Meditation Stones for passive stat bonuses at the Sky Island's Mental Training, and Fox Orb Fragments for the Awakening system — nine orbs that boost specific stats including individual weapon attack power.

Tailed Demon Slayer Tips and Strategies

  1. Upgrade the Assist mastery tree first. Assist masteries (unlocking at character level 16) improve progression speed, return bonuses, and offline earnings. Early stages are easy enough that you do not need combat masteries yet. Investing in Assist lets you rush through stages faster and accumulate more Relic Pieces from returns.
  2. Return (reset) frequently for Relic Pieces. Returning resets your stage progress but rewards Relic Pieces based on the highest stage reached. Relics are the strongest power multipliers in the game. Upgrade Abandoned Liquor Bottle and Tortoise Shell first — both B-grade relics that increase the Relic Pieces earned per return, creating a compounding loop.
  3. Use Auto Mode for farming but disable Auto Guardian for bosses. Auto Mode cycles your skills faster than manual play, making it superior for clearing regular waves. But Auto Guardian wastes your summon on weak enemies. Save your guardian gauge for boss fights where the burst damage can push you past a wall.
  4. Focus on three weapons — do not spread resources across all six. Each weapon has its own mastery tree and Fox Orb investment. Upgrading all six dilutes your resources and makes Ken weaker overall. Pick one short-range, one mid-range, and one long-range weapon, then pour all mastery points, skill stones, and Fox Orb Fragments into those three.
  5. Equip Sinbad as your primary fairy early on. Even a low-grade Sinbad outperforms higher-grade alternatives because of its exceptional attack boost. Once you have a full roster of SS-grade fairies, you can reassess, but Sinbad carries you through the early and mid game better than any other fairy.
  6. Summon equipment in bulk, then auto-merge. Single summons are inefficient. Save gems and summon in large batches to quickly fill the summoning meter, which unlocks access to higher-tier gear. After each bulk summon, tap Auto Level Up to merge all duplicates instantly — this is the fastest path to stronger equipment.
  7. Follow the Quest Prompt religiously. The prompt on the side of the screen tells you exactly what to upgrade or attempt next. It provides gems as completion rewards and ensures balanced progression. When you are unsure what to do, the Quest Prompt always has the right answer.
