About Crazy Drift

Crazy Drift is a 3D drift-scoring driving game built with HTML5 (Unity WebGL). Released in mid-2022, the game has earned a 9.2/10 rating from nearly 3,000 votes on CrazyGames. The developer is not publicly credited on the game's hosting pages; the game appears to have been developed by an independent studio. Unlike typical racing games where finishing first is the goal, Crazy Drift is entirely about sustained sideways driving — the longer and more aggressive your drift, the higher your score. Three environment types offer distinct experiences: famous racing tracks for classic circuit drifting, open playgrounds for free-roam experimentation, and stunt tracks for ramps and aerial tricks. With an extensive vehicle customization system, online multiplayer, NOS boost, slow-motion, manual gear shifting, and controller support, this browser game delivers a deep drifting experience as a free online game on desktop.

Scoring System

Your score is built entirely through drifting. Initiating a slide and maintaining it as long as possible earns drift points. The longer the drift, the higher your multiplier climbs. Ending a drift cleanly (without hitting a wall or spinning out) banks those points. Hitting an obstacle mid-drift cancels the multiplier and forfeits the uncommitted points. At the end of a session, you receive 10% of your total cash points as in-game currency to spend on vehicles and modifications.

Track Types

Crazy Drift offers three categories of driving environments, each with multiple locations:

  • Racing Tracks — Modeled after famous circuits with defined corners, curving roads, and traditional track layouts. Ideal for long, flowing drift chains where you carry speed through sweeping corners.
  • Playgrounds — Open areas with more freedom to experiment. Less structured than race tracks, playgrounds let you practice initiating drifts at different speeds and angles without the pressure of tight corners.
  • Stunt Tracks — Ramp-heavy environments designed for aerial tricks and aggressive drifting. Stunt tracks combine drifting with jumps and elevated platforms for a more creative driving experience.

NOS and Slow-Motion

Two special abilities add depth beyond standard drifting:

  • NOS (F key) — Activates a burst of nitrous oxide that dramatically boosts your speed. Use it to enter a drift at high velocity for a larger initial score, or to carry a drift longer through a sweeping curve. NOS is best used at the start of a long corner where the extra speed translates directly into drift distance.
  • Slow-motion (G key) — Slows down time, giving you more reaction time to control your drift angle through tight sections. Slow-motion is especially useful on stunt tracks where precision matters around ramps and narrow passages.

Manual Gear Shifting

Use Shift (upshift) and Ctrl (downshift) to control your transmission manually. Dropping to a lower gear before entering a corner increases engine braking and makes it easier to initiate a drift. Staying in a higher gear on long straights builds speed for longer approach runs. Players who master manual shifting can carry higher speeds into corners while maintaining drift control.

Vehicle Customization

Crazy Drift features an extensive customization system. After earning cash from drift sessions, you can:

  • Buy new cars — Each vehicle handles differently, with distinct weight, power, and grip characteristics.
  • Upgrade purchased vehicles — Modify performance attributes to tailor each car to your drifting style.
  • Visual customization — Change paint, body kits, and other cosmetic options to create a unique-looking drift machine.

Crazy Drift Tips and Strategies

  1. Use the handbrake to initiate every drift, then release and steer to maintain it. Tap Space as you enter a corner to break the rear tires loose, then immediately release the handbrake and control the drift angle with steering input and throttle. Holding the handbrake too long kills your speed and shortens the drift. The goal is a quick snap into the slide followed by smooth control.
  2. Activate NOS before a long sweeping corner, not mid-drift. Using NOS at the entry point of a wide turn gives your drift maximum speed and distance. Activating it mid-slide can destabilize your angle and cause a spinout. Time it so the speed boost carries you through the entire curve.
  3. Do not let the multiplier get greedy — bank your points by ending drifts cleanly. A high multiplier that gets canceled by a wall hit earns you zero. If you are approaching an obstacle or tight section, straighten out briefly to bank the current score, then initiate a new drift immediately after. Two medium-scoring drifts are worth more than one massive drift that fails.
  4. Downshift before entering a corner for easier drift initiation. Pressing Ctrl to drop a gear increases engine braking and makes the rear tires break loose more predictably when you turn in. This is far more controlled than simply yanking the handbrake at high speed in a high gear, which often results in a spin.
  5. Use slow-motion on stunt tracks to nail precision drifts around ramps. Stunt tracks have tight transitions between ramps and ground sections. Activating slow-motion with G gives you time to adjust your angle before landing or entering a narrow passage. On regular race tracks, slow-motion is less necessary because corners are wider and more forgiving.
  6. Invest upgrade currency in cars that match your preferred track type. A light, agile car excels on tight stunt tracks but may struggle to hold long drifts on sweeping race circuits. A heavier, more powerful car carries momentum better on race tracks but feels sluggish in playgrounds. Upgrade the vehicle you use most, not the one that looks best.
  7. Chain drifts through S-curves for the highest scores. The drift multiplier builds continuously as long as you remain in a slide. On tracks with alternating left-right corners (S-curves), transition directly from one drift angle to the opposite without straightening out. This keeps the multiplier climbing across multiple corners in a single chain.
