Lasso a zebra at full speed. Jump to an elephant before the lion bucks you off. Build a floating zoo with every animal you tame. Cowboy Safari is an endless runner and zoo management game where you ride, tame, and collect wild animals across sweeping landscapes — and you can play it free in your browser right now on PLRun.
Cowboy Safari is a fast-paced adventure game published by Azgames and released on November 5, 2025. You play as a daring cowboy who lassos and rides wild animals — buffalo, zebras, lions, elephants, ostriches, and many more — across savannahs, jungles, and exotic landscapes. Once tamed, these animals join your floating Sky Zoo, where visitors pay admission and generate coins for upgrades.
What makes this free online game uniquely addictive is the dual gameplay loop: the endless runner demands fast reflexes and perfect lasso timing, while the zoo management layer rewards strategic upgrades and animal collection. With 5 unique regions to explore, 25+ animals to collect, a mission-based progression system, and zoo enclosures to upgrade, this browser game blends action and tycoon strategy into one seamless HTML5 experience. Every run feeds the zoo, and every zoo upgrade makes the next run more rewarding.
Cowboy Safari uses minimal inputs with multiple functions:
Desktop:
| Action | Control |
|---|---|
| Throw lasso / Jump onto animal | Press Spacebar or Click |
| Aim lasso / Stay on animal | Hold Spacebar or Hold Click |
| Steer left/right while riding | Left / Right Arrow Keys |
Mobile:
The game also displays on-screen prompts during gameplay — "Press Spacebar," "Press & Hold," and "Press to Steer" — guiding new players through each action as it becomes relevant.
Every run in Cowboy Safari follows a satisfying cycle:
The longer your run, the more animals you tame. The more animals in your zoo, the more income you generate. The more income you earn, the bigger your upgrades. This loop is the engine that drives every session.
Each animal species has unique behavior that affects how you ride it:
Learning each animal's temperament is critical. Some animals tolerate riding for several seconds; others start bucking almost immediately. Watching the patience bar and preparing your next jump before it empties is the core survival skill.
Tamed animals are automatically added to your Sky Zoo — a floating zoo in the sky that visitors pay to enter. Zoo management includes:
Your zoo income funds everything — upgrades, new regions, and unlocking rarer animals for higher earnings. The zoo is not a side feature; it's half the game.
Cowboy Safari features 5 distinct regions, each with its own terrain, animal roster, and visual style. New regions unlock as you complete missions and progress through the game. Each region introduces fresh landscapes and rarer animal species that generate higher zoo income. Early regions feature wide savannahs with forgiving layouts, while later regions add dense jungles, narrow paths, and more aggressive animals.
Rather than simply chasing distance, the game gives you specific objectives each run: ride a certain number of different animals, tame a specific species, chain a set number of jumps, or reach a target distance. Completing missions rewards coins and unlocks new stops within the current map, as well as entirely new maps. This structure ensures every run has purpose beyond raw survival.
The patience bar is your survival clock. When it runs out, the animal starts bucking violently and throws you off within a second. Don't wait to see it happen — once the bar drops below roughly 25%, start scanning for your next animal and jump immediately. A premature jump to a nearby animal is always better than getting bucked off and ending the run.
Your longest runs will come from chaining consecutive animal jumps without touching the ground. When you jump from one animal to another, you maintain momentum and skip the vulnerability of running on foot. Target animals that are close together and plan your jump path two to three animals ahead. Treat the savannah like a series of stepping stones.
Elephants tolerate riding for several seconds. Lions buck almost instantly. Before you can chain jumps efficiently, you need to know how long each species lets you ride. Spend early runs deliberately riding each animal type to learn their patience windows. This knowledge directly determines when to jump and when to hold.
Not all upgrades are equal. Enclosure upgrades that increase ticket price and visitor capacity generate exponentially more income than cosmetic changes. Focus your early coins on upgrading your most populated enclosures to the highest level possible. The compounding returns fund everything else faster than spreading coins across many low-level upgrades.
Missions are your primary progression tool. They unlock new regions, new animals, and large coin bonuses. If your current mission requires taming three different species, focus on variety rather than riding one animal as far as possible. Tailoring each run to its specific mission objective is more efficient than playing generically and hoping objectives complete themselves.
Left and Right Arrow keys aren't only for chasing animals — they're essential for dodging obstacles and other animals that block your path. Colliding with obstacles while mounted causes an instant dismount. During fast sections with dense animal populations, actively steer to avoid accidental collisions while positioning for your next intentional jump.
Rarer species generate significantly more zoo income than common ones. When you enter a new region, prioritize taming the species you haven't collected yet. A single rare animal in a new enclosure generates more visitor interest than a fifth common zebra. Check your zoo inventory between runs to identify which species you're missing and target them in your next session.
