About Match Masters

Match Masters takes the classic match-3 formula and turns it into a head-to-head competitive experience. Both you and your opponent play on the same board, taking turns swapping colored tiles to create rows or columns of three or more matching symbols. Every move you make affects the board state your opponent inherits, which means you’re not just scoring — you’re also denying setups and controlling the grid.

The strategic depth comes from the booster and perk system. Matching blue star tiles charges your booster meter, and once filled, you can activate a booster ability that clears tiles, creates special pieces, or disrupts the board in your favor. There are over 20 boosters in the game, each with unique effects — from Sticky Goo that spreads across connected symbols to Firecracker that destroys random tile groups.

How to Play Match Masters

Basic Controls

Click or tapon a tile and then on an adjacent tile to swap them. If the swap creates a row or column of three or more matching colors, the tiles clear and you score points. If no match is formed, the swap doesn’t execute. On mobile, simply tap and drag tiles to swap them.

Match Combos and Special Pieces

Matching more than three tiles creates powerful special pieces on the board:

• Match 4 in a line— Creates a Special Arrow that clears an entire row or column depending on match direction.
• Match 5 in a T or L shape— Creates a Bomb that clears a large area around it.
• Match 5 in a straight line— Creates Lightning that clears all tiles of one color.

Combining two special pieces together triggers even bigger chain reactions. Setting up these combos is the key to posting high scores and overwhelming your opponent.

Boosters and Blue Stars

Each match, you select a booster before the game begins. Matchingblue star tileson the board charges your booster meter (displayed at the top of the screen). Once fully charged, tap the activate button to trigger your booster’s special ability. Boosters range from board-clearing effects to strategic piece placement. After activation, you can immediately start recharging the same booster — chaining booster activations across turns is a core high-level strategy.

Match Masters Pro Tips and Strategies

1. Prioritize blue star matches to snowball your booster.The player who activates their booster more often almost always wins. Focus on matching blue tiles even if they score fewer points — a single booster activation can generate more points than several regular matches combined.
2. Choose your booster based on the game mode.Different modes reward different strategies. Board-clearing boosters like Billie Boom dominate in Score Rally and Party Rumble, while repeatable boosters like Sheep Workout and Octopus excel in standard 1v1 where consistent activations matter.
3. Match higher on the board when collecting extra moves.When you create a 4+ match that grants extra moves, matching pieces near the top of the board causes more cascading tile drops below, increasing your chance of accidental chain reactions and bonus points.
4. Deny your opponent’s setups.Since both players share the same board, always scan for moves that would give your opponent easy 4-match or 5-match combos. Sometimes it’s better to make a lower-scoring move that breaks up a dangerous setup than to chase a slightly higher score.
5. Save your Hammer for activating stranded special pieces.Don’t waste the Hammer breaking random tiles. Its highest-value use is tapping a Special Arrow, Bomb, or Lightning piece that can’t be matched naturally — this converts a stuck piece into instant points.
6. Use Shuffle only when the board is truly dead.Shuffle resets the board, which can destroy setups you’ve been building. Only use it when matching opportunities are genuinely scarce and you’d otherwise waste a turn on a 3-match.
7. Chain booster activations across consecutive turns.After activating your booster, use the resulting board state to immediately start charging it again. Top players aim to activate their booster every 2–3 turns, creating a snowball effect that’s nearly impossible for opponents to overcome.
